The Pentair Mechanical Seal (071734S) is the OEM replacement shaft seal — Seal PA-7 with ceramic seat, PS1000 designation — for Pentair IntelliFlo and WhisperFlo series inground pool pumps.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: DATE-OF-MANUFACTURE QUALIFIER
Fitment on IntelliFlo VS+SVRS and IntelliPro VS+SVRS pumps is confirmed for units manufactured after June 2016. For IntelliFlo i1 and i2 pumps, this seal applies to units manufactured after April 2016. If your pump was manufactured before these dates, verify the correct seal part number in your equipment’s service manual or on the original part itself before ordering.

The shaft seal creates a watertight barrier between the pump’s wet end and the motor, preventing water from migrating along the motor shaft into the motor housing. A failing seal typically presents as water dripping from the area between the pump volute and the motor — a clear indicator that replacement is due. The ceramic seat provides superior hardness and wear resistance at the sealing face.
